Shredders for steel and plastic drums and IBC’s
Steel Drums
Steel drums can be relatively easily shredded provided the shredder configuration is correct. For 204L (44 gallon) steel drums our AZ50HD fitted with 62mm cutters is ideal. If only this type of drum is to be shredded then a standard AZ50HD can be used with the drum being fed in endways.
Where 20L or smaller drums are also to be processed, a ram hopper is required to ensure that these objects can be effectively grabbed. A ram hopper can also be used for 204L drums when they are fed sideways into the hopper.

Plastic Drums
Plastic drums can be difficult to shred as in dual shaft machines they are difficult for the cutters to grab and hold due to the memory in the plastic material. For small 20 litre drums this may not be a problem but for large 200 litre drums the ability of the shredder to grab the drum is critical.
Our AZ50HD dual shaft or QS15WL quad shaft units are excellent choices for smaller drums. For 200L drums, our QS50HD or an AZ50HD fitted with a ram hopper are the preferred options. Typical cutter widths are 31mm, 47mm, and 62mm

IBC cages and bladders
IBC cages and bladders need to be separated for effective recovery of materials. Once separated, they can be relatively easily shredded to reduce volume for transports and prepare for secondary processing.
IBC Cages can be shredded with an AZ50HD shredder with a properly configured hopper with assistance from a hydraulic ram.
IBC bladders can also be shredded with an AZ50HD shredder using a hydraulic pusher.
