AZ5 Shredder

A small 5kW dual shaft shredder

The AZ5 is our smallest shredder but it has a wide range of uses where throughput is low and the input material is less bulky. Used for small product destruction, swarf, glass, PET bottles, plastics, paper, food byproduct processing, laboratory shredding and a host of other specialist applications, the AZ5 is a robust but versatile machine.

Overview

A small industrial shredder / compact dual shaft shredder.

Designed for low-throughput applications with less bulky inputs, the AZ5 combines a compact footprint with high-torque / low-speed dual-shaft shredding. It’s commonly applied to targeted streams such as product destruction, light scrap/swarf, and packaging-related materials including PET bottles, plastics and paper—especially where the shredder needs to be integrated into an existing process and space is limited.

The AZ5 is configured around cutter selection (10 / 16 / 31 mm), with output size cutter dependent—allowing you to match the shredder to your material and downstream handling requirements. For sampling and laboratory applications, the AZ5 can also be supplied with a removable sizing screen to deliver more consistent product sizing for testing, R&D and process development.

  • Compact dual shaft shredder for specialist, low-throughput duties

  • Configurable output via 10/16/31 mm cutter options

  • Removable sizing screen available for sampling & laboratory trials requiring more consistent sizing

  • Auto reverse and overload protection for self-protecting operation

FAQ

What is the AZ5 best suited for?

The AZ5 is designed for specialised, low-throughput shredding where the input is less bulky and a compact footprint is important. It’s ideal for at-source placement and pilot/specialist applications where space is limited.

What applications is the AZ5 commonly used for?

Typical AZ5 applications include small product destruction, PET bottles and plastics, paper, defined glass streams, swarf, and sampling/laboratory trials. Material suitability depends on the exact stream and configuration.

What is the AZ5 not ideal for?

The AZ5 is not intended for very bulky items that bridge in a small feed opening, or for jobs that require high throughput. If you need tightly controlled final particle sizing at production scale, we’ll recommend the right machine or a multi-stage arrangement.

Can the AZ5 be supplied with a removable sizing screen for sampling and lab work?

Yes. The AZ5 can be supplied with a removable sizing screen for sampling and laboratory applications where more consistent product sizing is required.

What cutter widths are available on the AZ5?

AZ5 cutter options include 10 mm, 16 mm, and 31 mm cutters. Output size is cutter dependent.

How do I choose between 10, 16 and 31 mm cutters?

Cutter selection depends on your material type, the level of destruction/volume reduction required, and how you plan to handle or process the output. If you describe your stream (or provide a sample), we’ll recommend a cutter configuration.

What power supply does the AZ5 need?

The AZ5 is a 5 kW shredder specified for 3-phase 415 V / 50 Hz supply.

What current draw should I allow for?

Full load current is 10 A, and DOL starting current is 80 A. Your electrician should confirm site protection, cabling and starting method suitability.

What are the AZ5 dimensions and weight?

Approx. 897 mm (L) × 923 mm (W) × 420 mm (H), 250 kg.

What is the cutting chamber size?

Standard cutting chamber length (over cutters) is 402 mm, with cutting chamber width 358 mm.  We can customise the length of the cutting chamber if required.

How should I think about feeding a very small shredder?

The best results come from consistent feeding of less bulky items so material can engage the cutters without bridging. If your items are awkward/bulky, we’ll advise on feed arrangements or recommend stepping up to the next model.

Does the AZ5 have anti-jam / self-protecting features?

Yes. The AZ5 includes auto reverse and overload protection to help protect the drivetrain and keep the shredder operating under variable loads.
